Wednesdays Under Wraps: Why We Cover

Image
Greetings Earthlings! I want to continue the discussion, today, on why some Pagan women choose to cover their hair. Paganism is not like other religions. There are truly no hard and fast rules to be a Pagan. We all know of the mainstream religions that have rules about head covering, but why do Pagans choose to cover when it's not typical to the religion? Last week I posted a question in one of my head covering groups. I asked for members to share with me why they choose to veil as Pagans. Just like the women who shared their stories, they were all different, but still had something in common. Called by Goddess or not, each member who responded said something to the effect of "it just felt right." So, whether inspired by non-pagans who veil, or by Divinity, we all seem to be in agreement that once the scarf was on, it felt natural! Something I've noticed as a common thread among the different members of the group, is that we all seem to feel ...

Tarot Tuesday: Those Damn Court Cards

Image
*This post is as much for myself, as it is for anyone else struggling with the Court.* Greetings Earthlings! King of Cups Last Tarot Tuesday I wrote about a break through I'd had with the Queen of Wands from the Deviant Moon Tarot. This week, I'd like to talk about the Court cards in general. If you are anything like me, you struggle with interpenetrating the Court cards when they come up in a reading. The conventional advice is to read them like real people. They either represent the querent, or a person in relation to the querent. But, what do you do when that doesn’t quite fit the context of the reading? The Court cards, for me, are some of the most nuanced cards in the Tarot. They are some of the most difficult cards to pin down in a reading, and have been one of the biggest headaches for me on my tarot journey. I won't lie, when I see a Court card come up, I sometimes feel annoyed and frustrated.      Knight of Swords Let’s take the Kni...

Wednesday Under Wraps

Image
Greetings Earthlings!! I'm feeling pretty over-confident in my ability to keep up with regular posting, so we'll see if this catches on or not.... But anyway... I'm wanting to do an other new series regarding veiling, and I think "Wednesday Under Wraps" is what I'm going to call it! Each Wednesday, or at leas one Wednesday a month, I'm going to blog about some aspect of head wrapping. I'm not 100% sure what this series will look like, or if it will be something that I can keep going long term, or if I'll eventually run out of things to talk about...? Haha! For today, though, I want to continue the conversation about my journey. So in my last post about veiling , I talked about HOW I discovered veiling, but today I want to elaborate more on WHY. Why do I cover my hair? That's the million dollar question. The easy answer is, "because I want to, and because I can." But it's absolutely more complicated that that. Someone ...

New Series: Tarot Tuesdays!

Image
Greetings Earthlings! Teal here, So I had an idea for a series that I'd like to start on the blog, and on my YouTube channel. It is by no means innovative or ground breaking, and I am absolutely not the first person to do something like this. Buuuuut, I think I'd like to add my perspective to the conversation, because in the end, that's what my goal is, to converse and exchange ideas!! ANYWAY.... I'm going to attempt to do a "Tarot Tuesday" series! I'm not sure how consistent I'll be able to be, considering I don't really have a place I can go for privacy to film, but I can at least type up a post and shoot a few photos... This series is intended to be more of a journal of my own personal thoughts and experiences with the 78 cards in the Tarot. I am not attempting to create new meanings or to claim that I "know it all." I've been having some pretty awesome breakthroughs with the cards lately, and I'm so excited to share w...

Unveilining the Mystery of Pagan Veiling

Image
Greetings Earthlings! What do you do when the Goddess leaves a trail of bread crumbs? You follow it, of course! Blissfully unaware of the path that is unfurling before you, you connect each dot, not realizing the picture you are drawing. This is how much of life unfolds, but what I'd like to talk about today is why I cover my hair. It's a long story, and much of it is fuzzy, so I'll leave out some of the finer details. I used to spend a lot of time watching beauty tutorials on YouTube. Over time, I began coming across more and more Muslim beauty bloggers. At this point, I was still under the [wrong] impression that Muslim women were forced to wear Hijab and that they were just making the best of it. Then I came across a video by a woman named Amena , and her video entitled "TAKE OFF YOUR HIJAB."  She explained that it was HER CHOICE to wear a scarf. I did some research and learned that, contrary to what white folks are told, Muslim women DO get to choo...

The Magic of Ultra Violet

Image
Greetings Earthlings!!!  You may be aware that, every year, Pantone chooses one color to showcase for that year. Last year, they chose a gorgeous fresh green color called Greenery. This year, the color is Ultra Violet!  This has become a big deal in the realms of fashion, home decor and design. But, the other day, I was thinking to myself, "Self, how can I use the Pantone color of the year in my Magical and Spiritual practices?" Image Source: Pantone While ultra violet light, technically, can't be seen with the naked eye, the shade of purple Pantone chose is a beautiful, vibrant purple hue. There are about a thousand and one ways to incorporate purple into Magic, but I wanted to talk about some of the ways I'll be using it, this year! The color purple is associate with the following correspondences: ·         Element of Air ·         Planet Jupiter ·      ...
